Throughout the year, students step beyond the classroom through performances, competitions, cultural celebrations, and community service projects. These experiences build skills that augment lessons learnt in the classroom. Some events showcase individual talents, others bring families & communities together. Each experience helps children discover their strengths and connect with their school community.
Srujan, our annual school exhibition, is a platform for acknowledging student creativity, critical thinking, and the successful application of classroom knowledge. Students develop working models and experiments across Science, Technology, Arts, and Humanities. They conduct research and prepare presentations. Your child gains experience by designing and presenting to parents and the community. This strengthens communication and problem-solving skills. Srujan demonstrates what every child understands and achieves.
Tarang, our annual School Day celebration, brings student talent to the stage across all grades. Children perform through dance, music, and drama. They step into the spotlight and show what they practiced for weeks. Parents fill the audience. Teachers watch from the wings. The entire school community gathers to see what children accomplish in Performing Arts classes. Students apply the skills they build in weekly sessions to a live performance.
Saha, our annual Sports Day, is the culmination of our year-round commitment to physical fitness and development. This day showcases student abilities in track and field competitions and inter-house challenges. Older students compete in races, jumps, and throws. Our Pre-School (PS) children participate in special races designed to celebrate movement and fun. Saha emphasises the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy living. Every child, from our youngest onwards, experiences athletic achievement and competition.
Our institution is built upon the vision of its founder, Mr. Ampa Palaniappan. A business veteran, Mr. Palaniappan has established a four-decade legacy across sectors including retail, real estate, IT, finance, education, and hospitality. This professional history provides a strong foundation of trust and credibility for our school. Beyond his commercial achievements, Mr. Palaniappan is a philanthropist whose mission is to serve the community. This ethos of service forms the cornerstone of our school’s commitment to students. In honour of this philosophy, we observe Founder’s Day annually on January 24th. On this occasion, students donate to a chosen cause and visit the recipient organisation. This creates a direct connection to community service and giving back.
The annual Christmas Carnival is a major highlight of our December calendar, organised through the efforts of our parent community in collaboration with the school. This event is a joyful occasion centred around fun, festivities, and joy for all who attend. The games and celebrations serve a purpose. All proceeds go to a charitable cause. This reinforces our commitment to community spirit and giving, making it a true celebration beyond ourselves.
We honour the bond between our youngest students and their elders through the annual Grandparents’ Carnival. This event is designed exclusively for our Pre-School (PS) children and their grandparents. It features interesting activities such as games, food stalls, and a drum circle where both these generations make music together. Our aim is to create a fun loving space for children to bond with their grandparents.
As an institution committed to secular values and respecting India’s diverse heritage, we dedicate time to observing significant cultural and national festivals throughout the year. Events like Independence Day and Teachers’ Day instil national pride and gratitude, while cultural festivals such as Onam, Krishna Jayanthi, Dussehra, Ganesh Chaturthi, Christmas, and Pongal help children understand tradition and appreciate the diversity that defines our nation. Through these celebrations, students gain firsthand exposure to different customs. They grow up to be informed, respectful citizens.
We believe that learning extends beyond school grounds. Students go on one fun trip and one educational trip annually. These excursions connect classroom concepts with the real world. For instance, in 2025, our Pre-School (PS) students explored history and transport at the Railway Museum, while our Primary children engaged with the arts and social themes at the Little Museum Theatre to watch The Cook’s Play. These trips create hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity.
The story of sishya is the story of how one man’s vision was transformed through his dedication & perseverance in the face of odds, through the support of parents and students as well the community at large, into a premier institution providing quality education in Chennai.
